Nach sehr langer Bedenkzeit – zehn Jahre um genau zu sein – habe ich mich letzten Endes doch dazu entschlossen, dem Kemper Profiling Amp eine Chance zu geben. Was soll ich sagen? Warum habe ich so lange gewartet!?!
Klar, ein waschechter Röhrenamp wirkt ansprechender und ist mehr Rock’n’Roll, aber dafür ist der Kemper deutlich rückenschonender und wesentlich leichter im Transport.
Jedoch muss ich bei all dem technischen Fortschritt anmerken, dass ich für den Live-Einsatz ausschließlich Direkt-Profile verwende. Zusammen mit meiner Kammler Mono-Kai (mit Celestion Redback-Speaker) erhalte ich so eine klangliche Flexibilität mit höchster Sound-Qualität. So habe ich alle meine Lieblingsverstärker immer und überall dabei und kann mein Rig jeder Situation anpassen.

Eine gute Weile habe ich überlegt, ob ich auch auf den Zug des Profil-Verkaufens aufspringen soll. Klar, ein paar ethische Bedenken habe ich, wenn ich Profile von meinem gemoddeten Marshall oder meinen Diezels anbiete, sind doch alle Amps in liebevoller Handarbeit gebaut bzw. modifiziert. Der Ersatzdroge „Kemper-Profil“ möchte ich vorbeugen und definitiv zum physischen Vorbild raten, sofern es denn finanziell oder logistisch möglich sein sollte. Ich liebe alle meine über die Jahre angesammelten – und hart ersparten – analogen Verstärker aus vollstem Herzen nichts steht so sehr für den Rock’n’Roll-Ansatz, wie ein weit aufgerissenes Half-Stack hinter sich zu bändigen. Gerade diese akustische Urgewalt und Unkontrollierbarkeit lässt einen doch nochmal deutlich anders spielen, als mit einem digitalen Schweizer Taschenmesser.

Aus diesem Grund biete ich auch nur Direkt-Profile an. Sie markieren den für mich idealen Spagat zwischen der logistisch vorteilhaften Flexibilität einer Digital-Lösung und dem archaischen Spirit einer akustischen Abrissbirne.

Für maximale Klangtreue wurden hochwertige Kabel, Cabinets, Loadboxen (letztere beide aufgrund der Interaktion zwischen Cab und Endstufe des Amps) und die hervorragende Profile DI-Box von Kemper verwendet.

After a very long period of consideration – ten years to be exact – I finally decided to give the Kemper Profiling Amp a chance. What can I say? Why did I wait so long!!!
Sure, a real tube amp looks more appealing and is more rock’n’roll, but the Kemper is much easier on the back and much lighter to transport.
However, with all the technical progress I must note that I use exclusively direct profiles for live use. Together with my Kammler Mono-Kai (with Celestion Redback speaker), I get sonic flexibility with the highest sound quality. This way I have all my favorite amps with me wherever I go and can adapt my rig to any situation.

For a good while, I considered jumping on the profile selling bandwagon as well. Sure, I have a few ethical concerns about offering profiles of my modded Marshall or my Diezels, after all, all amps are lovingly hand built or modified. I would like to prevent the substitute drug „Kemper profile“ and definitely advise the physical model, if it should be financially or logistically possible. I love all my over the years accumulated – and hard saved – analog amplifiers with all my heart nothing stands for the rock’n’roll approach as much as a wide-open half-stack to tame behind. Especially this acoustic elemental force and uncontrollability makes you play much different than with a digital Swiss Army Knife.

For this reason I only offer direct profiles. They mark the ideal balancing act for me between the logistically advantageous flexibility of a digital solution and the archaic spirit of an acoustic wrecking ball.

For maximum fidelity, high-quality cables, cabinets, load boxes (the latter both due to the interaction between the amp’s cab and power amp), and Kemper’s excellent Profile DI box were used.

In summary:
for on the road: Kemper – awesome!
for loving and atmospheric enjoyment: definitely the real amps!
